Maria Garcia Teutsch is a California poet. She has recent publications in the forthcoming Sylvia Plath anthology: Fat Gold Watch, McSweeney’s anthology, Conversations at the Wartime Cafe, and Eighteens which was published in the UK in 2011. She has been published in the Haight Ashbury Literary Journal, Sierra Nevada Review, Prairie Schooner, and Two Review. her Cinepoem: Chronicles on Violence was featured at the Verrückter Schwanz Cinepoetry Festival in May 2011. She has given poetry readings all over the country, most notably at City Lights Bookstore, Bound Together Anarchists Collective Bookstore and at the Beat Museum in San Francisco. She is editor-in-chief of The Homestead Review magazine, and also Ping-Pong: a journal of literature and art published by the Henry Miller Memorial Library.
Maria will work with Francesco Levato on his multiphonic cinepoetic piece, “Variations on Want.” Cinepoetry is an old form first started by Man Ray and Robert Desnos. The form allows the poet to visually express their ideas at the intersection of poetry and film. Francesco’s piece will feature a choral reading between the author and Maria Teutsch.
