Edvany Klebia da Silva


Edvany Klebia da Silva, born in João Pessoa, Brazil, began her cello studies in 1999 with Francieudo Torres. Edvany has played in Brazil with the Children’s Orchestra of Paraíba, Youth Orchestra of University of Paraíba and Youth Orchestra of State of Paraíba. She has performed at Festival Eleazar de Carvalho, International Festival of Music and Colonial Brazilian Ancient Music, Festival de Santa Catarina, Rio International Cello Encounter XI, XII Rio International Cello Encounter, XIII International River Cello Encounter, International Festival Campos do Jordão and since 2009 with YOA Orchestra of Americas. On tour with YOA, she shared the stage with Carlos Miguel Prieto, Jean-Pascal Hamelin, Gabriela Montero, Matt Haimovitz, Joshua Bell, Dante Anzolini, Wendy Sutter and Ilya Gringolts in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Brasil, Canada and the United States. Edvany arrives at Days & Nights Festival fresh from YOA’s 2011 Mexico Tour, where she encountered a range of artists from Philippe Quint to Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, from Dante Anzolini to Ilych Rivas.

Edvany has participated in master classes with Antonio Meneses, Matt Haimovitz, Bernhard Löecher, Zigmmund Kubala, Richard Young, Mats Lindström, Ingemar Brantelid, Rebecca Peterson, Minna Rose Chung, Anatoli Krastev, Colin Carr, Dennis Parker and Ilmari Hopkins, among others.

Her awards and recognitions include grand prize winner of 10th National Competition for Strings Paulo Bosisio (Class C) and 11th National Competition for Strings Paulo Bosisio (Class B), 3rd prize (with Camerata Brasílica) at National Youth Chambers in Brazil. She can be heard on CD recordings “Sivuca, the Poet of Sound” and “Brazilêra” with Camerata Brasilica Chamber Orchestra. Edvany recently relocated to a chillier climate of Winnipeg (Canada) to continue her cello studies with the distinguished Dr. Minna Rose Chung at University of Manitoba – Marcel A. Desautels Faculty of Music.
